If you send a lot of group emails to clients, family or friends, you will find it easier to set up contact distribution lists on your iPhone, rather than typing in individual email addresses each time you want to send a message. Distribution lists can be saved and updated relatively easily and can even be copied directly from an already established distribution list that you have in your email client. In fact, if your distribution list is on the long side, you will probably want to create it on your computer first to avoid typing in all the addresses on your phone.
Click on the "Notes" application on your iPhone.
Type in the email addresses you want to include in the distribution list. Separate each email address by a comma and a single space.
Tap on the iPhone screen twice to reveal the "Select," "Select All" and "Paste" options.
Click "Select All" to highlight all of the email addresses on the note pad. Tap "Copy" to copy the list.
Tap on the "Phone" icon. Click the icon in the upper right corner of the "Contacts" screen to add a contact to your phone. This new contact will become your distribution list.
Enter a name for your contact list into the "First name" field. This name can be anything that makes the list identifiable to you.
Tap on the "email" field twice to reveal the Paste option. Tap the "Paste" icon to transfer the contents of the distribution list you just created.
Tap the "Save" button to save your distribution list. It is now ready to use.
Open a blank email and tap the "add" icon in the "To" field. This will open up your contact list. Scroll until you find the name of your distribution list and tap on its name. All of the addresses in your list will now be entered into the message's "To" field.
Tips
Instead of typing the email addresses into the Notepad application on your iPhone, you can type them into the body of an email on your computer and email the message to yourself. Once you open the message on your iPhone, you can copy and paste the distribution list into the email field of the Contact details.
You will receive a warning notification on your iPhone after you hit the "Send" button, notifying you that the address entered isn't a valid email address. This occurs because your iPhone is reading the distribution list as a single email address instead of a list. Click "Send" to confirm that you want to send the message. This will not effect your phone's ability to send the message to each individual recipient.
